New System Purchases, Installations:

  • If your business is in the market for a new system, we can help you navigate through the myriad of choices to find a system that best fits your needs. In addition to making recommendations on specific equipment for servers and workstations, etc., we also can help you find industry-specific software. Though we have much experience with medical practice-management software, last year, we were able to sort through many choices of Point-of-Sale systems and find one with which a new customer was very pleased.

Business Consultations:

  • One area in which we far and away outpace our competition is in consulting with business to help controls costs and increase efficiency through the use of technology. Sometimes, business owners only see the costs in their computer system and forget the benefits to efficiency. Can you imagine running your business without a computer? Most, though sadly not all, business owners cannot. However, many business continue to operate with systems that do not meet theirs needs or they do not fully utilize the capabilities of the computer systems that they already have. Our owner and primary technician, was trained at the University of Texas at Austin in utilizing technology in business and is an expert in process redesign and consulting.

PC Tune-Ups:

  • Virus and Spyware Disinfection is provided, along with a free antivirus program (Free Program is only available to home customers due to license restrictions).

  • Optimization of your computer so that it will run at maximum efficiency (see information in sidebar on this page)
  • Sometimes the only solution to a problem is to reinstall Windows. Unfortunately, the computer manufacturers do not make this easy because many drivers are often missing from the installation disk. If Windows needs to be reinstalled, let an expert do it for you.

Also, remember that while wireless networks are becoming more popular, they still pose many security risks not present in wired networks. Also, when you have computers communicating with a file, database, or other server, wired networks still provide a speed advantage.

  • As is said in other places on this site, not backing up your data can be a critical mistake. Whether you are a large company implementing a new system and need backup guidance or just would like to backup your personal files, we can provide you with a customized solution.

Lost Data Recovery:

  • If your hard drive has crashed or you or someone else has reformatted it or deleted files, there is a chance that much of the data can be recovered. If you find yourself in this siutation, do not do anything else to the drive until you've called and had our Data Recovery Services explained to you, as further work on the drive may compromise our ability to recover the files.

    Hardware Repair:

    • If your computer simply will not turn on, you can't get a picture on your monitor, or other probem, it may be hardware related. Our top technicians can identify the problem for you and offer you options to repair it.

    • Many of the problems discussed above have related to PC or Windows Computers. However, if you have a problem with your Macintosh, we can fix that as well.

Read This Before You Buy Any Unneccessary New Hardware.

While it is certainly true that there are times when computers have become outdated and either need to be upgraded or replaced, it is also true that people waste millions of dollares a year on unneccessary hardware in an attempt to improve their computer's performance.

Many find to their disappointment that their new hardware doesn't help their situation much. The reality is that most (though certainly not all) of your computer's problems are the result of the configuration of the hardware and software that you already have. You see, if you don't know what is going on inside your computer, then odds are that there are things going on that shouldn't and many things that aren't going on that should.

Please take these statements in the spirit in which they were intended. If you are hobbling along five years later with the same amount of RAM that came with your computer, odds are that you need a RAM update. However, even in this case, the odds are that the settings and software in your computer need to be tuned up. Sure, some new RAM will give the computer some new pep, but nothing is like tuning up the PC.

And obviously, no amount of upgrades OR optimization are going to turn your hand-me down computer from aunt Judy into one that can compete with the newest model.

However, therein lies the secret. Unless you are a business, or unless you are intent on using Windows Vista or 7, you probably don't NEED a computer that will compete with the newest model.

As a computer junky, I want my computers to be just as fast as the newest models. However, I have found that after doing optimizations on hundred of computers, 90%+ of the computers which were still slow to me seemed very fast to their owners compared to what they had been used to.

Finally, one last note. Don't think that because you have a brand new computer you are getting the most wallop out of your hardware. Most computer manufacturers tend to install mountains of "trial" or other software on your new computer--software which you never asked for or wanted. What's worse, simply removing the programs won't always take all the components of the software off your machine.

The bottom line is this: although there is a place for new hardware, almost every computer that hasn't been optimized by a professional within the last 6 months to a year is likely not performing up to par.
